Former Doctor Who star David Tennant wins planning battle to expand his £2.6million west London home

  • Actor granted permission to enlarge loft and build a first floor extension
  • He had previously tried to put an extra storey on the property in Chiswick
  • Council planners rule the revised plan will ‘preserve’ area’s character


David Tennant has won a planning battle to expand his £2.6million London home just a few months after his proposals were thrown out.


The Doctor Who and Broadchurch star was left ‘heartbroken’ when he was told he couldn’t put another storey on his home in the upmarket west London suburb of Chiswick.


Council bosses had argued the original extension plans would harm the historic and architectural character of the site, while a residents’ association quipped it was pity his house wasn’t a Tardis.


But the actor returned with fresh plans to overhaul the Victorian house, where he has lived with his wife, former Doctor Who co-star Georgia Moffett, since 2010.

Instead of an entirely new floor, plans were submitted for the loft to be enlarged and turned into a fifth bedroom.
