The team that’ll be guiding the TARDIS on its travels from 2018 onwards appears to be coming together.

Misfits producer Matt Strevens is expected to join Doctor Who in the role of executive producer.

He’ll join showrunner Chris Chibnall as part of the show’s new creative team, following Steven Moffat’s departure in late 2017.

Strevens’s hiring was announced via a tweet on the BBC’s official Doctor Who Twitter account, though the post was later deleted.

He has, however, acknowledged his new job on his own personal account. Digital Spy has contacted the BBC for comment.

Beginning his TV career as a script editor on EastEnders in 2004, Strevens later served as a producer on ITV’s The Bill from 2007-2009.

He was producer on E4’s raucous sci-fi Misfits for its third and fourth series (2011-12) and has also worked on BBC One’s legal series Silk and satirical drama Capital.

He also has previous with the Doctor, having produced 2013’s origins drama An Adventure in Space and Time – written by Mark Gatiss – and he worked with ex-Who boss Russell T Davies on last year’s Channel 4 series Cucumber.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One for a full series in 2017, following a Christmas special this December.
