Lost episodes of Doctor Who to be shown as cartoons half a century after they vanished

According to the Daily Mirror website six lost episodes of Doctor Who are to be revived as cartoons – 50 years after they were aired.

The Mirror said,

BBC Worldwide has commissioned a company to animate the 1966 classic six-part story The Power of the Daleks, featuring the first ever Doctor Who regeneration.

Patrick Troughton’s first outing as the Time Lord – taking over from William Hartnell – is the holy grail for fans, as it was only shown once in the UK and only sold overseas to Australia and New Zealand.

On Sunday August 21 – 2016  Doctor Who News reported the appearance of a video that appeared on YouTube professing to be a leaked official BBC Animation, this animation then quickly vanished, blocked by BBC Worldwide on copyright grounds… it was a two minute clip of scenes from Power of the Daleks which had been animated to a very professional standard.

It’s worth noting that this wouldn’t be the first time Doctor Who has played around with animating scenes from the classic series. Three years ago, they released this animated clip showing the First Doctor (played by William Hartnell) regenerating into the Second Doctor at the end of “The Tenth Planet.”
